HOLY CROSS chaplaincy
Holy Cross Chaplaincy, under the care of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), in the diocese of Fresno was established for the celebration of the Traditional Latin Liturgy. We are grateful to The Most Rev. Bishop Armando Xavier Ochoa for welcoming us to the Diocese of Fresno in 2017.
The Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Usus Antiquior or the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, is the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church which was in widespread use before the New Order of Mass was introduced in 1969. This Liturgy includes the Mass, the Sacraments, various rites of blessing and more.
Catholics in our community are blessed with the opportunity to participate in the traditional liturgy. They receive pastoral care rooted in longstanding customs and engage deeply with the Church's perennial teachings. These resources provide spiritual nourishment and a strong sense of connection to the rich heritage of our Catholic faith.

Second Collection: On Sunday, October 18, we will have a second collection in support of World Missions. World Mission Sunday was established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI, as a day of prayer and giving to missions. This collection funds the formation of seminaries, religious institutes, and builds churches and schools throughout the world. Please do what you can to support our missions.
All Souls Novena: Please be sure to turn in your intentions for the All Souls Novena by Sunday, October 25. Extra envelopes for the novena may be found in the vestibule of the church.
Sunday, October 25, the feast of Christ the King; one may gain a plenary indulgence by reciting publicly the “Act of Consecration of the Human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus”. We will recite the Act of consecration after the 1:30 p.m. Mass.
High Mass - Misa Cantata
First, Third and Fourth Sunday in October.
Starting October 4 we will use Mass XI and Credo I for High Mass.

October is designated by the Catholic Church as the Month of the Rosary because in this month the Church celebrates Our Lady of the Rosary on Oct. 7.
The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, also celebrated as Our Lady of Victory, was established by Pope St. Pius V in 1571 to celebrate the miraculous victory of the Christian forces over the Ottoman empire in the Battle of Lepanto on Oct. 7 of that year. Previous to the decisive battle, Pope St. Pius V had requested all Western Christians to pray the rosary; thus, he attributed the victory to the power of the Rosary.
